Ferdowsi Hall
Ferdowsi Hall is located opposite Vahdat Hall (on the northern side of Ostad Shahriar Street). The current site of Ferdowsi Hall was a royal stable during the reign of Reza Shah Pahlavi, later transformed into a sports club, and then, before the revolution, it served as a workshop for set design, welding, and costume-making for plays and operas.
Ferdowsi Hall was constructed in 2003 within the heart of the former set design workshop, with a capacity of 145 spectators . Initially, scaffolding and a temporary metal frame were used to build the stage, and from 2004 , the hall underwent gradual renovation, reconstruction, and completion.
Ferdowsi Hall is uniquely designed for marionette opera , featuring 80-centimeter string puppets . The hall was inaugurated in February 2004 with the performance of *”Rostam and Sohrab”*, directed by Master Behrouz Gharibpour . In 2013 , false walls, stage hardware with a 7-meter span , two spanless openings, a third bridge for puppet movement, electric and manual winches for lifting sets, an entrepôt for audience seating, a digital sound system, and a lobby with exhibition and museum spaces were designed and constructed by Master Behrouz Gharibpour.
A total of 9 works directed by Behrouz Gharibpour have been performed in this hall, including the operas *Rostam and Sohrab*, *Macbeth*, *Hafez*, *Saadi*, *Khayyam*, *Layla and Majnun*, *Love (Sheikh San’an)*, *Ashura*, and *Mowlavi*.
