The Iranian Instrument Orchestra, led by Pouria Shiavfard and featuring Mojtaba Asgari as vocalist, will take the stage in Astrakhan and, by performing a selection of Iranian musical works, will introduce Russian audiences to part of the orchestra’s artistic and performance capabilities.
The performance is being organized by the Rudaki Foundation in cooperation with the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia, as part of the musical programs of Iran’s Cultural Week in Russia. The event has previously hosted the National Orchestra of Iran in Moscow and Kazan.
The appearance of the Iranian Instrument Orchestra in Astrakhan adds a different dimension to the event’s presentation of Iranian music. Drawing on traditional Iranian instruments and the capacities of Persian classical music, the performance will introduce part of Iran’s musical identity to international audiences through live music. Beyond its artistic dimension, the event could also provide an opportunity for cultural dialogue and the development of new connections between artists and cultural institutions in the two countries.
