Soor Ensemble Brings “Saadi’s Love” to Roudaki Hall
The concert “Saadi’s Love”, led by Majid Moulania and featuring vocalist Amir Asna-Ashari, will be held on 4 and 5 December at Roudaki Hall as the ninth edition of the “Tarz-e Tazeh” series.
Roudaki Foundation: in the ninth edition of the “Tarz-e Tazeh” musical project—launched by the Foundation last November—the Soor Ensemble will perform a concert centered on Saadi’s ghazals at Roudaki Hall.
This event will feature four tasnifs, three avazes, and two rhythmic pieces, all composed and arranged by Majid Moulania in the Māhour and Shur modal systems, based on Saadi’s poetry.
The members of the Soor Ensemble include Hamid Ghanbari (percussion), Jamshid Safarzadeh (santur), Alireza Daryaei (kamancheh), Amin Dadvari (percussion), Mehdi Basiratmanesh (bass gheychak), Mohammad Yousefi (ney), Farzad Mohammadzadeh (oud), and Majid Moulania (tar). This concert also marks the ensemble’s first collaboration with vocalist Amir Asna-Ashari, whose work with the group will soon be recorded and released as an album.
The Soor Ensemble began its activities in 2008 and has since performed numerous concerts in Iran and abroad, releasing five albums titled “Yar-e Mast,” “Dar Eshq Zendeh Bayad,” “Jan-e Sargardan,” “Doran-e Eshq,” and “Cheshm-e Bikhab,” in collaboration with vocalists such as Hessamoddin Seraj, Vahid Taj, and Salar Aghili.
“Tarze Taze” is an initiative by the Roudaki Cultural and Artistic Foundation that offers special support to innovative ideas from musical groups in various genres, including Persian classical, regional music, and Western classical music.
The ninth edition of Roudaki Foundation’s “Tarz-e Tazeh” project, titled “Saadi’s Love” and performed by the Soor Ensemble under the direction of Majid Moulania, will take place at 20:00 on Thursday, 4 December, and Friday, 5 December at Roudaki Hall.
