“ Tarze Tazeh” Reaches Its Eighth Station / “Saba as Told by Sayeh” at Roudaki Hall

The eighth edition of the Roudaki Foundation’s Tarze Tazeh project will take place on Friday, October 31 (9th of Aban) at Roudaki Hall, featuring a performance by the Sayeh Ensemble under the direction of Mohammad Amin Akbarpour.

Roudaki Foundation:, the Tarze Tazeh project was launched in November 2023, aiming to support innovative musical ideas. In its eighth edition, the Sayeh Ensemble will go on stage at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 31st, at Roudaki Hall.

Mahmoud Makhdoom will accompany the ensemble as vocalist.

The concert will be presented in two parts. The first part will feature a duet performance on a reconstructed setar by the late master Abolhasan Saba, alongside tombak and vocals inspired by master Hossein Tehrani.

In the second part, the ensemble will perform several of Saba’s compositions in the Segah modal system, including Samani, Zang-e Shotor (“Camel Bell”), and Bahâr-e Mast (“Spring in Ecstasy”), along with four old tasnifs (songs) as transmitted by master Abdollah Davami.

Tarze Tazeh is an initiative by the Roudaki Foundation to provide special support for creative ideas by musical ensembles across various genres — including Persian radif-dastgahi, regional folk music, and Western classical traditions.

The eighth edition of the project, featuring the Sayeh Ensemble led by Mohammad Amin Akbarpour, will be held on Friday, November 9, at Roudaki Hall. Tickets are available via the IranConcert website.
