Brilliant Performance of “Rumi” Opera in the Heart of Moscow

The puppet opera “Rumi”, written and directed by Behrouz Gharibpour, was warmly received by Russian audiences during its five successful performances at the “Et Cetera” Theater in Moscow, as part of the prestigious Chekhov International Theatre Festival.

Rudaki Foundation’s: the Chekhov Theatre Festival—recognized as one of the most esteemed performing arts events in the world—has hosted prominent directors and theater groups such as Giorgio Strehler, Peter Brook, and Ariane Mnouchkine over its 33 years of activity.

In this year’s edition of the festival, the Aran National Puppet Opera Company staged ” Rumi” in the 700-seat “Et Cetera” Theater with two daily performances. The production featured a team of 27 puppeteers and technicians and received highly positive feedback from both Russian audiences and media outlets.

During his trip, Behrouz Gharibpour also visited the exhibition of the festival’s 33-year achievements held on the famous Arbat Street. During this visit, Karina Sergievna Tsara Veskovaia, the festival’s director, provided a comprehensive explanation about the goals and historical development of this major international artistic event.

Previously, from October to March of the past year, the opera “Rumi”—designed, written, and directed by Behrouz Gharibpour, and produced by the Aran National Opera Company and the Rudaki Foundation—had a highly successful 61-night run at Ferdowsi Hall in Tehran, receiving large audiences and critical acclaim.
