Report on the Construction Activities of the Rudaki Foundation: Preserving Authenticity and Modernization
In the year 1403 (2024-2025), the Rudaki Foundation has undertaken numerous construction activities aimed at enhancing its cultural and artistic capacities while preserving the authenticity of its facilities.
Rudaki Foundation, the foundation oversees several venues, including the Vahdat Hall, Rudaki Hall, Hafez Hall, Ferdowsi Hall, Dehlavi Hall, the Azadi Tower Complex, the Art Education Center, and rehearsal studios. These venues host a large number of artists, art enthusiasts, and audiences throughout the year.
In line with its mission to sustain cultural and artistic events, the foundation has been diligently working to maintain its buildings and improve the quality of its cultural and artistic programs through proper and systematic planning.
Last year, the water supply system of the foundation’s complex was repaired and modernized. This included the purchase and installation of a new hot water boiler and a water softener in the foundation’s boiler room. Additionally, the water pipeline of the well located in the Vahdat Hall courtyard was repaired, and the sewage line was connected to the municipal sewage network. Furthermore, the electrical panels, facilities, and fire safety systems across the complex were replaced and updated to enhance safety.
In the audience areas of the halls, the carpets in Vahdat Hall, Rudaki Hall, and the Azadi Tower Hall were replaced due to wear and tear. The entrance curtains of Vahdat Hall were also re-sewn and reinstalled, maintaining their original design and color.
To improve the quality of services provided to artistic groups, the stages of Vahdat Hall (including three movable stages, a rotating stage, and the main stage), Rudaki Hall, and the main hall of the Azadi Tower were repainted. In Vahdat and Rudaki Halls, the old podiums were replaced with new ones. In Vahdat Hall, the stage curtains were completely replaced, with 50 bolts of fabric purchased and tailored for this purpose.
The lighting and sound systems of Vahdat and Rudaki Halls were also upgraded. New projectors, suited to the lighting needs of various programs, were purchased and installed. Additionally, the cabling systems in the halls were updated.
One of the major projects undertaken at Rudaki Hall was the complete renovation of its backstage area. Previously unused spaces were repurposed through extensive repairs, and a dedicated room was built to improve the storage conditions for musical instruments. The archive of musical scores was also fully updated. Furthermore, the dressing rooms, makeup areas, restrooms, and air conditioning systems in Rudaki Hall were renovated.
The foundation also upgraded the seventh-floor rehearsal studio by designing and constructing dressing rooms and installing a new heating and cooling system for use by artistic groups.
The Rudaki Art Education Center was equipped and modernized through repairs to the heating system’s plumbing, updates to the electrical and lighting systems, and improvements to the acoustics and insulation of classrooms and common areas. These changes have transformed the center into a more optimized space for enhancing the quality of education provided to students in various artistic disciplines.
The Azadi Tower Complex, with its diverse functions in tourism and cultural-artistic activities, is one of the foundation’s most valuable assets and requires continuous maintenance. One of the most significant projects undertaken here was the repair and modernization of the moving walkway in the Iranology Hall, a highly sensitive task due to the unavailability of the original manufacturer. Other construction activities included the purchase, installation, and modernization of the water supply system and water tank to optimize water usage, the construction of a new rehearsal studio for artistic groups, and the insulation and renovation of the main hall.
To enhance the safety of groups, audiences, and staff, the foundation installed and updated CCTV cameras across all its facilities.
In response to necessity, the piano strings in Vahdat Hall were replaced.
Each year, the Rudaki Cultural and Artistic Foundation allocates a budget for construction activities, focusing on effective utilization of resources in three main areas: building maintenance, facility upgrades, and modernization. The foundation plans, consolidates, and implements its programs with this approach in mind.
